In an article published in Body and Soul, Carla Oates, the founder and owner of The Beauty Chef, has shared a few tips for gentle cleansing of your body.

Oates is a freelance writer. She also writes a weekly DIY beauty column for the Sunday Telegraph (Australia).

In the article, she writes, “Our 5-Day Cleanse & Reset has been created to show you how in less than a week you can begin to transform your health and wellbeing and support your body’s natural detoxification processes by making a few simple diet and lifestyle tweaks.”

She has offered tips that you can follow for five days to detoxify your body and feel lean and clean in no time.

First, she advises keeping yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of filtered water. She says hydration helps support your regular bowel motions and assists the passage of food through the digestive tract. Also, she explains that “drinking plenty of water helps your body cleanse itself and eliminate waste and toxins.”

Second, Oates recommends including foods rich in fiber because it nourishes your digestive system and supports healthy cleansing. She says avoid gut-compromising foods, such as dairy products refined wheat, refined sugars, caffeine, and alcohol.

The author says include probiotic-rich fermented foods because they promote a healthy gut and combat inflammation, supporting the body’s natural detoxification process.  

More importantly, Oates suggests dry body brushing because it helps stimulate the lymphatic system – one of the body’s detoxification systems – that helps in the removal of toxins from the cells.

She also encourages people to exercise regularly, especially gentle activities such as yoga, Pilates, and walking.

Oates writes, “We all know that fruits and vegetables are an important part of any healthy, balanced diet—but to really reap the rewards, it’s essential to consciously eat as many colorful varieties as possible. Where possible, opt for dark blue, purple or red fruits and veggies—including purple carrots, sweet potato, beetroot and berries—as these are richer in antioxidants.”
