Larry King, 87, has been hospitalized in Los Angeles after receiving a COVID diagnosis, according to CNN and Roger Friedman’s Showbiz411.
The Larry King Now host has been sick for 10 days. He is now in isolation, according to the outlet, which also stated his ex-wife Shawn King and sons, Cannon and Chance King, cannot visit King.
A source close to the King’s family told ABC News, “Larry has fought so many health issues in the last few years and he is fighting this one hard too, he’s a champ.”
In May 2019, King had a life-threatening stroke just weeks after undergoing heart surgery to place a stent. In 1987, he survived a heart attack. He also survived prostate and lung cancer.
In 2020, King lost two of his children – Andy, 65, to a heart attack and Chaia, 51, to lung cancer – according to PEOPLE.
In August, King wrote on Facebook, “It is with sadness and a father’s broken heart that I confirm the recent loss of two of my children, Andy King, and Chaia King. Both of them were good and kind souls and they will be greatly missed.”
“Losing them feels so out of order,” he added. “No parent should have to bury a child. My family and I thank you for your outpouring of kind sentiments and well wishes. In this moment, we need a little time and privacy to heal. I thank you for respecting that.”
King is best known for hosting the radio program “The Larry King Show” which ran from 1978 to 1994. Later, he hosted Larry King Live on CNN from 1985 to 2010.
In February 2020, King told PEOPLE he has “less of a fear of dying” after suffering from many health scares. He said, “I’m 86 and it is what it is. I just want to keep working until the end. I’d like to die at work — I’ll retire right there!”
“I’m very proud of what I do,” King continued. “And I’m a good father — nothing beats parenthood. There’s an element of pinching myself every day. Look at what I’ve come through. All in all if you look at it, I’ve had a blessed life.” The article originally appeared on PEOPLE.
