Quora is an increasingly popular digital question-and-answer platform. These days it is getting popular for discussing fitness talks within fitness communities. Recently, a user on Quora asked – how many days should one workout in a week – to which many people from the fitness industry responded.

Helgi Briem, a biologist and power-lifter, said, “Once a week is a bare minimum to maintain a base level of strength. It is not enough to make progress but can prevent deterioration, for example, while on holiday or during a competition season in a sport. Twice a week produces slow gains for most people and is the minimum effective workout routine. For the vast majority of trainees, three times a week is a sweet spot, providing good progress with adequate recovery.”

On another social media platform, one of famous nutritionists, Rujuta Diwekar, recently shared that a person needs to work out for at least 7 days a month, which is minimum. Furthermore, she added at least 22 days a month you should eat homemade food.

If a person is not overweight and his reason to workout is just to stay fit, it is acceptable if he/she workouts twice or thrice a week. However, if a person is willing to reduce weight, he/she has to work out more frequently. The nutritionist explained that the number of days you should workout in a month varies from person to person and it is important to know that having a balanced and nutritious diet is also required along with the workout. Furthermore, you need to be very strict and punctual at the time of following your planned schedule. Five-day workout a week is considered ideal for most, but ultimately, it depends on how much you can follow it in your busy schedule.
