Last year, when the COVID pandemic started affecting the whole world, TV personality and businesswoman Bevy Smith needed assistance prioritizing her mental health.

The 54-year-old told Health that she started seeing a therapist for advice on how to take care of her mental health.

Smith, who is best known for her work as a co-host on Bravo’s fashion-themed talk show Fashion Queens, said, “When the pandemic hit, I knew I needed to go back into therapy. I don’t think any of us have grappled with what has happened to us throughout this [past] year.”

“I think there will be a lot of different types of mental health issues coming up,” she added.

In addition to therapy, another most important thing that has helped Smith stay strong mentally is getting adequate sleep.

Her self-care routine has always focused on getting a sleep of eight hours each night, which she failed to have during the start of the pandemic.

“I didn’t have as many sleeping problems before,” Smith explained. “I had a very active life. I think by the time I went to bed I was exhausted. During the pandemic, when it first started happening, I was not sleeping well at all.”

The author went on to say that she took sleep medications and they helped her. “I did a lot of different things at first to try to get to sleep, but I found that sleep meditation really was the key,” she said.

Smith also explained that the COVID pandemic has taught her how important it is to practice healthy behaviors, stating, “This is a crazy time—and we’re not out of it yet.” The story was published on Health.
