Singer-songwriter Blanco Brown is in ICU after suffering from serious injuries in a head-on car crash on Monday in Atlanta, according to his label, BBR Music Group.

The Git Up singer suffered “significant injuries” and underwent a 12-hour surgery after the car accident near his home.

BBR Music Group wrote, “Additional surgeries are expected as he currently rests in the ICU. Blanco, his family and his friends ask for your prayers during this time.”

In February, the 35-year-old singer revealed to PEOPLE that he kept his phone number after it was shown on live TV to talk with his fans.

At the time, he said, “I made it a line for my fans. I call them my friends. I talk to people one or two times a week. I give them words of encouragement and tell them to stay in school and blessing and thanking them.”

Brown’s real name is Bennie Amey III. He has produced for Chris Brown and Pitbull. His debut single The Git Up was released in April 2019. As of July 2019, the song had over 50 million streams on Spotify.

He is a Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer behind songs by artists like Monica, Fergie, Pitbull, and 2 Chainz.
