Juliette Kaplan, who played Pearl Sibshaw in the popular BBC sitcom “Last of the Summer Wine,” has died after a long battle with cancer at the age of 80, according to her agent.

She starred in 226 episodes of “Last of the Summer Wine” from 1985 to 2010. Her role was to stop efforts made by her husband to have an affair.

Kaplan was also known for acting in television series such as Coronation Street, Eastenders, and Doctors.

She last played her role as Agnes Tinker in Coronation Street in 2015, which marked her final work as an actor.

Born on October 2, 1939, in Bournemouth, Kaplan spent much of her childhood days in South Africa. She was married to Harold Hoser who died in 1981; they had three children.

In 2012, Kaplan told Kent Life that her mother wanted to send her to a drama school to polish up her voice so she went back to Bournemouth. She had an accent that influenced many people in South Africa and New York. On Thursday, Barry Langford, a London-based Talent Agent, tweeted, “Juliette Kaplan, ‘Our Pearl,’ has finally succumbed to the cancer she has bravely battled for so long. Thank you everyone who sent their love and support to this fearless and supremely gifted actress. As she said, ‘Ta-ta and it’s been fun.’ #LastOfTheSummerWine #RIP #Pearl,” along with a photo of Kaplan.
