Katy Perry has recently explained how to deal with negativity.

The 35-year-old singer said it is important to take care of yourself and start meditating to deal with negativity and boost your confidence.

At an American Idol event, Perry told reporters, “I believe in therapy, I believe in meditation, I believe in self-care, I believe in taking stillness of my time.”

The “Con Calma” singer explained that “being able to sift [through] what’s real” would make a big difference in your life.

She said, “Something someone told me that changed my life is that nobody can ever make you believe something about yourself that you don’t already believe about yourself.”

“So if someone says you’re ‘a fat, ugly bitch’ and it affects you, do you think about yourself that way? So get to the bottom of that,” she added.

Perry will return to judge the newest season of American, which premieres Sunday on ABC, alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

She also explained that it is necessary to have a great support system, be it your family or friends.

The “Roar” singer said, “Create a team of people that play both devil’s advocate and that are also supportive.”

“The crazy thing about now versus ten years ago — the access that the trolls have to our heads. You have to be mentally prepared for this time more than anything,” she added. “You can look put together and beautiful and be crumbling on the inside.”
