Speaking to Serbian media, Novak Djokovic revealed he underwent scans that showed no damage to his shoulder after experiencing excruciating pain at the US Open on Wednesday night.

Djokovic was in extreme pain in the first set of the match against Juan Ignacio Londero. He immediately called his trainer to seek medical attention. However, he continued playing and won the opening set. Ultimately, Djokovic fought back and won the match but he was concerned about his injury.

“It has caused hindrance to my game for sure tonight, especially with the serve and backhand. It was not easy to play with this kind of sensation, to be honest. I did not experience that too many times in my career,” said the World’s No. 1 tennis player.

“I was also lucky to find my way back in the second set and to win in the straight sets. I had obviously, you saw, a medical timeout. At changeovers, I tried to use within the rules as much as I can physiotherapy and medical help. That has definitely helped me stay in the match,” Djokovic continued.

“The way it has started for me, especially midway through the first set, I didn’t know if I would be able to finish the match. I’m really glad I have,” added the 32-year-old.

Revealing about his scans, Djokovic told Sportklub that tests delivered positive results.

“The pain was almost unbearable; at some point, I felt pain while tossing the ball. I hope that we will be able to reduce the pain significantly so that I could play the third round,” said Djokovic. He added, “We did an ultrasound and the results had shown that there are no damages. I don’t believe that this can be a long-term issue. At least that is what the specialists say. This is uncomfortable because we are at a Slam, but we’ll find a way.”
