Reba McEntire has recently revealed that she and her boyfriend, Rex Linn, have tested positive for COVID-19 despite being vaccinated, according to PEOPLE.

The 66-year-old singer is urging fans to take precautionary measures and practice social distancing.

During a livestream on TikTok, McEntire opened up about her experience with COVID-19, sharing that she and Linn, CSI: Miami actor, 64, caught the virus despite being vaccinated.

She said, “I just want to say one thing: this has been a hard year and it’s getting rougher again. You guys, please stay safe. Wear your mask. Do what you have to do. Stay home.”

“It’s not fun to get this. I did get it,” she continued. “Rex and I got it and it’s not fun. You don’t feel good. We were both vaccinated and we still got it, so stay safe, stay home, and be protected the best you can.”

Breakthrough cases, which occur in people who have been fully vaccinated, are rare, but possible and expected, as experts say that the vaccines are not 100% effective at preventing COVID infections.

Vaccinated people who test positive may have an asymptomatic or milder illness. Officials say that nearly 99% of deaths from COVID-19 are in unvaccinated people.

McEntire went on to say, “I have no idea what plans for next year are. You know, the COVID thing has really hit hard and spikes are going everywhere right now … and it’s all over the country — this new variant.”

“We have plans right now to go back on tour in January, February, and March,” she continued. “We have plans with being with Brooks & Dunn at Caesars in December — the first two weeks, almost three weeks of December — but we don’t know if that’s going to go.”

“We’re just gonna move forward, keep praying that everybody stays safe and healthy, and wear your mask and just be safe,” the actress added.

In early June, the number of COVID cases had been on the decline as Americans got vaccinated, but cases started to soar back due to the high contagious Delta variant, which has become the dominant strain in the U.S.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said nearly 50% of the American population is fully vaccinated against COVID as of Friday, while more than 58% have received at least one dose. The story was published on PEOPLE.
