US Representative, Nancy Pelosi, who often criticizes President Donald Trump for not wearing a mask, has been spotted without a facemask in a San Francisco hair salon.

Fox News obtained footage that showed the House of Representatives speaker inside the premises on Monday without face covering, breaking the city’s coronavirus-prevention rules.

According to San Francisco’s pandemic orders, hair salons are not allowed to open indoors. Hundreds of thousands of businesses in California have shut permanently due to the ongoing crisis.

Pelosi, who always wears face-covering in public, often cautions Republicans to “listen to the science” on the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the footage showed her walking without a facemask over her mouth, instead it was around her neck. A stylist, who was wearing a facemask, was shown following her.

Pelosi’s spokesperson, Drew Hammill, said she did not realize she was breaking her home city’s rules on the prevention of the spread of the virus.

Hammill said, “This business offered for the Speaker to come in on Monday and told her they were allowed by the city to have one customer at a time in the business. The Speaker complied with the rules as presented to her by this establishment.”

Previously, Pelosi has herself cited the CDC’s guidelines recommending that Americans should wear facemasks in public, especially when it is difficult to follow physical distancing measures.

Pelosi appeared on MSNBC and said Trump had “slapped science right in the face” last week by allowing an audience of mainly mask-less invitees on the White House lawn to watch his speech to the Republican convention.

Erica Kious, the salon’s owner, told Fox News she rents chairs to a stylist, who notified her that Pelosi’s assistant had called, stating her boss wanted to come in for a wash and blow dry.

She said, “It was a slap in the face that she went in, you know, that she feels that she can just go and get her stuff done while no one else can go in, and I can’t work.”

Senate Republicans criticized Pelosi’s move, suggested that she was a hypocrite.

They tweeted. “Speaker Pelosi has pushed policies that would keep our economy closed and our small businesses shut down. But for herself? A salon visit whenever she pleases.”

Pelosi has also repeatedly criticized Trump’s decision to largely avoid wearing a mask, calling him a “coward” and saying, “Real men wear masks.” In the United States, the virus has killed more than 188,000 people and affected over 6 million so far.
