Shemar Moore, 50, has revealed that he has tested positive for the new coronavirus, called SARS-CoV-2.

Last week, he shared a post on Instagram on Thursday, announcing that he had been diagnosed with COVID. The former Criminal Minds star reassured his fans about the state of his condition.

He wrote, “I HAVE COVID!!!! Just found out moments ago… I am gonna stay wrapping presents… Yes… I have been tested and told that I HAVE COVID!!!”

Moore said he thought he had food poisoning after experiencing “chills and aches all day,” adding added that he still has his sense of smell and taste – a common symptom of the COVID – and that he has “no cough, no runny nose.”

“I have to accept test results… I feel fine now… but I have to be responsible!!!!” Moore continued. “My Xmas n New Years is clearly not gonna be the best… my last year and a half has not been the best… but I WILL BE OKAY!!!!”

He added, “This is a hard time for ALL OF US… the WORLD!!! But… I BELIEVE in the sun shining through the rain!!! Stay safe and appreciate everything and everybody you have and had!! MUCH LOVE!!!!”

Moore ended his note by advising people to wear a mask.

Earlier this year, he mourned the loss of his mother, Marylin Joan Wilson-Moore, who passed away in February at the age of 76. At the time, he shared an emotional Instagram post, sharing memories of his mother with fans.

“I stay stunned. I am heartbroken… I don’t know life without this woman,” Moore said at the time. “I don’t know what to do but I will figure it out because that’s what she would want. Everything I’ve accomplished is because of this amazing woman. My mother is gone, she ain’t here no more. But she’s here.”

The S.W.A.T. actor said her cause of death is still unknown, but he revealed that she suffered from heart problems. His mother was also diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999. So far, the new coronavirus has affected more than 19 million Americans, killing over 341,000.
