An article published online in The Manila Times – an English-language newspaper in the Philippines – has mentioned that some Filipino males have regained their virility after participating in a COVID-19 vaccine trial conducted in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The article’s author Ramon Tulfo wrote, “I’m not at liberty to disclose the vaccine’s pharmaceutical company and its country of origin, but I can give some hints.”

“The vaccine was highly successful in trials in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which have multiracial populations,” he added.

“Many Filipinos working in Dubai and Abu Dhabi took part in the trials and didn’t experience any bad side effects. I was told that some Filipino males in their senior years who were tested for the vaccine regained their virility. That’s a welcome side effect if you ask me.”

He said Filipinos have to wait until 2022 or 2023 to get the doses from Pfizer and Moderna, which is after the US and Europe achieve herd immunity.

“As the Covid-19 vaccine I’m referring to is about to become available in the country soon,” Tuflo wrote, “Filipino Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Tesoro Go has raised the need for a systematic and comprehensive national vaccination program.”

Go, who served in President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet, said the government would give priority to the poor and the vulnerable sectors of society, according to The Manila Times.

Duterte has set aside an initial P2.5 billion fund for the vaccine, which is currently not enough to cover 120 million Filipinos.

So far, the Philippines has reported 422,915 confirmed COVID-cases and 8,215 deaths, according to worldometers.info.

Globally, the virus has affected more than 13 million people, claiming over 1.4 million deaths, with the United States getting affected the most followed by India and Brazil. The news was originally published in The Manila Times.
