Whitney Cummings, 37, has revealed her struggle with anorexia in her new memoir “I’m Fine… And Other Lies,” detailing the personal events in her life.

Earlier this year, the comedian said, “I feel like I finally accumulated enough embarrassments, disasters and wisdom to put a book together that can compete with reading the Internet. And you’re welcome, readers, now you can just read this book instead of f**ing up like I did.”

The co-creator of 2 Broke Girls wrote in her memoir, “I became irrationally terrified of fat” after watching her mother and stepmother’s diet during her childhood. She said that she ate a lot of rice cakes, apples and non-fat yogurt from the age of 14 to 18.

Referring to her body dysmorphia, Cummings wrote, “It was as if I were looking in a funhouse mirror that makes your hips comically large. I literally could not see myself how others did.”

Her eating disorder and body dysmorphia continued even after moving to LA at the age of 19 and had been binge eating even in her sleep. She mentioned that she would find herself surrounded by food wrappers on waking up in the mornings. She wrote, “Sometimes I was even sticky from whatever weird sauce I blindly poured down my throat.”

Cummings finally turned the table with the help of her friends’ support. She realized how happier and healthier she could be after following a healthy and nutritious diet.

She also realized that her anorexia problem was due to a lack of self-confidence. Although she still has to struggle a bit with food at times, Cummings hopes that sharing her story might help others who are also battling the same issue. The comedian wrote, “The other good news about my overcoming an eating disorder and putting some weight on is that it makes you look about ten years younger. People keep asking me if I’ve gotten a facelift and I’m like, ‘Nope, just got that extra side of guac.”
