American singer Kalie Shorr has shared her experience with the new coronavirus.

She revealed she has contracted COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, in a series of tweets on Monday.

The 25-year-old singer said she somehow contracted the respiratory illness even after following social distancing guidelines and staying at home.

Shorr tweeted, “Despite being quarantined (except for a handful of trips for groceries) for three weeks, I managed to contract COVID 19. I’m feeling significantly better, but it’s proof how dangerous and contagious this is. It’s endlessly frustrating to see people not taking this seriously.”

The “Fight Like a Girl” singer went on to say that she felt absolutely miserable for the first few days of illness and experienced body pain and fever.

“The first few days were absolutely miserable,” she wrote, “I’ve never felt like that before. My entire body was in pain, and my fever was like riding a wave. I completely lost my sense of taste and smell.”

Over the weekend, Shorr shared a photo of herself on her Instagram account, standing a skateboard on a sidewalk. She told fans she had been outdoors in a while.

She captioned the post, “ventured outside for the first time in a while, it kind of feels like July in high school? No one has jobs, we are all sleeping in, no idea what day it is, can’t really spend money, not allowed to go anywhere…”

Globally, the coronavirus has sickened more than 785,700 and killed over 37,800 so far. In the United States, officials have reported 164,253 confirmed cases and 3,167 deaths so far.
