Lidl Whisky Best In World

A bottle of Lidl whiskey that costs you just £13.49 has been considered one of the best in the world. It has won big in the first round of this year’s World Whiskies Awards. It has won the prize for the “Best Scotch Whisky” in the category “Blended” section, which is 12-year-old or under.

Over 40 international experts sampled whiskies from around the world, gathering in December, January, and February in cities including Tel Aviv, Melbourne, and Edinburgh.

The World Whiskies Awards is an annual event, which recognizes the “very best in all internationally recognized styles of drinks”.

The award is presented by thedrinksreport.com, a web portal for professionals within the alcohol industry.

Johnnie Walker Black Label Scotch Whisky that retails at £22 at Sainsbury’s was among those beaten by Lidl’s entry in the “Blended” category.

The winners of the “Best Overall Blended Whisky” and the “Best Overall Whisky” will be declared on 28 March.

The production of Lidl Queen Margot Blend Scotch Whisky is done by using traditional whiskey-manufacturing methods, which included malting, mashing, fermentation, distillation, and maturation.

Lidl whisky contains dried apricot and plum, which is imbued with a rich sweetness and depth flavor and is mellowed for eight years in oak casks.

Basically, whiskey is made from three ingredients – water, malted barley, and yeast. Once the barley gets dried, it is then mixed with hot water to make a “mash,” which is fermented and distilled placing it in wooden barrels for maturation.

This is not the first tile Lidl won at the World Whiskies Awards. In April 2018, Lidl’s Hortus Artisan Dry Gin beat other expensive competitors during a blind taste test that was conducted by the Good Housekeeping Institute. In addition, recently, Lidl had been awarded the prize for “Own Brand Gin Supermarket of the Year” at Gin magazine’s 2019 Icons of Gin awards.
