Michael Douglas has recently revealed that he is very proud of his son Cameron’s drug recovery process.

Cameron was imprisoned in 2010 for offenses related to drugs after becoming addicted to cocaine and heroin. In 2016, he was released from prison and since then, he went on to publish his memoir “Long Way Home,” in the hopes of helping other drug addicts to seek help.

Cameron’s father, Michael, 75, said that his son has been doing great and has been planning to help others how are going through similar battles.

Michael said, “He’s doing great, he’s in wonderful shape. I’m just so proud. He’s had a rough go of it. Addiction is just a terrible, terrible disease. It affects all families. He’s planning on doing speaking engagements. Things are looking up in the future.”

The Kominsky Method star explained that he was dreaded about losing Cameron to drug addiction. He recalled, “There were moments when hope dwindled … and then it’s just a train out of the station. Life became a series of crises. I thought I was going to lose him.”

Despite the best efforts from Michael and his former wife, Diandra, Cameron used to take cocaine daily and had seizures due to the drug.

Cameron explained that he was not able to stop using drugs even though he did not like what they have been doing to him.

“I hated the wreckage I saw in my life because of drugs, but I just couldn’t stop,” said the “It Runs in the Family” actor. “It’s the sneaky power, the stranglehold that addiction has when you’re in the throes of it.” After he was released from prison in 2016, Cameron became a father to his daughter, Lua Izzy Douglas, with his girlfriend, Vivienne Thibes, a yoga instructor.
