Keto Diet Not Healthy In Long Run, Says Tamra Judge

The Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge stopped following the keto diet, or ketogenic diet, last year after it made her sick.

During a recent Instagram Q&A, Judge told a fan that she does not believe that the high-protein, high-fat, and low-carb eating plan is beneficial.

After the fan asked her for her opinion on the keto diet, Judge responded, “Couldn’t wrap my brain around eating so much fat. Just not healthy in the long run.”

“They say there’s this keto flu you get, and I just fell off the keto wagon,” she told The Feast in October.

The keto flu is a common side effect of the keto diet. Many dieters say that they experience flu-like symptoms such as body ache, nausea, fatigue, and dizziness at the start of the diet because the body goes in a process called ketosis, which means it switches from burning carbs to burning fat.

Judge said, “It concerns me. I’m sure it works, but I cannot wrap my brain around eating that much fat. Bad fat — cheese, sour cream, butter, all that stuff. So, I like to do the good fats — like I’ll do the avocado, but I’m not gonna drown my eggs in butter and throw the cheese on top of it. Just — I can’t.”

“It just doesn’t make any sense to me because it’s just not healthy eating,” the 51-year-old continued. “So I worry more about what it’s gonna do for, like, your heart, your cholesterol, and things like that.”

Like other celebrities such as Jillian Michaels and Savannah Guthrie, Judge is also not a fan of keto. However, there are severe other celebrates who are following the diet and have had success in losing weight, such as Jenna Jameson, Al Roker, and Sherri Shephard. Judge concluded, “I pretty much stick to a similar diet, but I just don’t go for the bad fat.”
